vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) |
| |
| The region of the electromagnetic spectrum with frequency between the far ultraviolet and the longest-wavelength X-rays (approximately 200 to 100 nm). In this region of the spectrum light is strongly attenuated by absorption in air, and most experiments must be carried out in a vacuum, hence the name. |
