strong interaction

One of the four fundamental interactions of nature. The strong interaction is felt by hadrons, not by leptons. It has been called the strong nuclear force because it is the attractive force that holds together protons and neutrons in atomic nuclei. It is a very short-range force, which dominates the other interactions only at distances of about 10{TAG(tag=>sup)}-15{TAG} m or less; it conserves baryon number and isotopic spin, and is carried by the gluon.See colour charge.
