impedance matching

The minimization of power loss caused by the internal impedance of a power supply. When a power supply with an internal impedance is used, a load with low impedance will cause much of the power to be dissipated in the supply. However, a load with high impedance will cause a low current to flow, and again little power will be dissipated in the load. Maximum power is dissipated in the load when its impedance is equal to the complex conjugate of the impedance of the supply.
