Hartree-Fock theory (self-consistent field theory)

  
   
An extension of Hartree theory; it uses a multi-electron wavefunction and therefore takes account of the exchange interaction, ignored in simple Hartree theory. Named after D. R. Hartree and Vladimir Alexandrovich Fock (1898-1974).
