Brewster angle (polarizing angle)

The angle of reflection θ from a surface at which elliptically polarized incident light becomes plane-polarized. It is given by tan θ = n{TAG(tag=>sub)}2{TAG}/n{TAG(tag=>sub)}1{TAG}, where n{TAG(tag=>sub)}1{TAG} is the refractive index of the medium in which the ray travels and n{TAG(tag=>sub)}2{TAG} the refractive index of the medium on the other side of the surface. The reflection coefficient for light polarized in the incident plane is zero at this angle. Named after David Brewster (1781-1868).
